Dude Lite and Dude Deluxe Submitted to Apple

We submitted our two new Apps to Apple last week and hope to see them approved and appearing on the Apps Store this week.  Welcome to the world… Dude (Lite) and Dude Deluxe.   Dude is the most versatile and popular word in the English language.   The Apps feature dozens of hilarious “Dude” recordings in a beautifully rendered design.   Click here to learn more.  We’ll be sure to post when the Apps are approved.

Nag-O-Meter Deluxe Launched

Nag-O-Meter Deluxe was launched today on the iPhone App Store and iTunes App Store for 99 cents. Please give it a try and let us know what you think.

Enjoy!

App Submitted to Apple and Promo Video

We submitted Nag-O-Meter Deluxe to Apple this week so hope to have it on the App Store and iTunes by next week. In the meantime, we created a promotional video and uploaded it to Youtube. We have smaller version featured on the homepage of this site, but here’s a larger version. Enjoy!

We’re Official!

We heard from Apple today. The App Company is now an official iPhone developer! We’ll be closing the offices for the rest of the day to celebrate with the team. We’ll probably be doing some paint balling with the crew in a our new The App Company shirts and hats!

Graphics and UI are close…

Our designer Scott Riddle finished the splash screen last week (it’s up on the homepage) and he’s finalizing the UI. We have the page backgrounds in place and are just trying to agree on the button colors, fonts and design. Jason and I spent the morning going over various looks and decided on a nice, bright web2.0 design. Nothing revolutionary, but it goes really well with the rest of the design and is consistent with other iPhone apps. Scott will be spending tomorrow working on the look and we’re hoping to have all of the graphic elements to Steve tomorrow night. Keep your fingers crossed!

Apple doesn’t make it easy, but we’re getting there!

We recently realized that our Apple Developer agreement was not registered with our official name in the contract. How could it have been? We initially were christened as ‘The iPhone App Company’ but Apple didn’t allow that for trademark reasons. Lucky for us, ‘TheAppCompany.com’ was available and actually works out better since we will be making apps for all popular mobile platforms.

So it shouldn’t be too difficult to change the name in the contract. Right? Not right! The first hurdle is contacting Apple. The developer portal on the their website lists no contact phone numbers so we used the email form on the website. Fast forward a week and we still hadn’t heard from Apple. We did some searching around and after about an hour of surfing from page to page and reading how everyone agrees that there isn’t a phone number we finally found one. It’s clearly very, very difficult to get this number because a guy from Scotland answered the phone on one ring and was extremely helpful — he must not receive many calls!

I gave my new Scottish friend my reference number from the email I sent and he explained how it can take weeks to get someone to read the email, but now that I’m speaking with him I’ll jump to the front of the line. He was right, because that day I heard from a rep that the change is being processed and today I was asked to fax the appropriate documents to prove that we are in fact THE APP COMPANY! Looks like things are back on track.

Development finish line is in site

Steve sent us the latest build for iNag today and we’re happy to report that all of the functionality is now in place. There are still a few rough edges but for the first time we have all of the features in place and we can actually use the app on our iPhones and show it around to friends and family. Everyone is impressed and anxiously awaiting for the release so they can have their own.

All Nags are recorded and ready to go

We now have recorded over 1,200 high quality Nags. We have Nags from Moms, Dads, Wives, Husbands, Kids, Girlfriends, Bosses and Teachers. We even have Self Nags (I’m not good enough, I’m an idiot, Why did I do that), Foreign language Nags and Nags with Scottish and British accents. We have a bunch more categories lined up but we need to lock the list for version one now or we’ll never be done.

Did I mention that all of our Nags can be sent via email and used as custom ringtones! We’ll probably limit the first release to our best 600-700 Nags and then release additional Nags in future updates. We won’t be charging for updates and we plan on releasing these fairly regularly.

Are we there yet?
